Archaeologically investigated sites of Hallstatt hillforts are a good type of where to look for megalithic building complexes in our country. Archaeologists and historians have been doing their part in finding the remains of human occupation at these sites, and it is not surprising that they were often used by humans. Whether as settlement centres or for sacred purposes, some for astronomical purposes – to determine the time of the solstices.
Complexes are usually protected by rock walls. Historians note their existence and their artful design, but do not investigate them further. It’s an open field for our independent “Exploration of Prehistory”.
Surprisingly, there was no fortress at the very beginning of our research. As a comparative model, the founder of the project was attracted to the site of the Devil’s Wall near Vyšší Brod, which was one of the destinations of his family expeditions during his childhood. A natural rock formation, of course!? But if you browse through dozens of megalithic rock complexes in Europe and Asia, and at almost all of them there are stone seas …. In truth, after exploring this site, the founder didn’t know what to make of it. It was necessary to continue with expeditions to other sites.
